Our
cup was running over this morning with some many wonderful children at
church for both services! Thanks to our teachers and helpers today!
Laughter, giggles, hugs, smiles, and fun! Remember to invite a friend to
attend next week, especially to meet us for fun at Pumpkins Etc. right after church! YEAH GOD!!
The Children's Ministry blog is a great place to learn about upcoming activities, keep connected, get involved, and volunteer. Our focus is to demonstrate for our children how deep and wide God's love is for them and those in their community, how being in relationship with God is the solid foundation they will need as they grow, and as a result, our children will know that God loves them so much that Christ was sent to be their Savior.

Body of Christ
This morning our children will be learning about what it means to be part of the Body of Christ.
"so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well..." Romans 12: 5-6

The Lost Sheep - LUKE 15:3-7 and BACKPACKS of LOVE
Today during Sunday School and Children's Church, we learned about the parable of The Lost Sheep; as a Child of God, God loves each of us so much he will search for just one of us when we have gone astray.
Back to School - We then talked about the heaviness of backpacks and the contents we carry in our backpacks. Our sins can be heavy if we don't repent and receive forgiveness from God; God can make us clean just like a clean sheet of notebook paper; and when we talk to God and read the Bible we are sharpened like pencils for God to use us.
Finally, we talked about bringing items in for our SERVE 2013 - BACKPACKS of LOVE for Festival of Sharing. Children are encouraged to bring in items for other children in need - the items include toothpaste, t-shirts, underwear, small stuffed animals, etc.

We BEAT our Goal...Way to Serve...GOD IS GOOD!!!
Everywhere Fun Fair has wrapped with an amazing evening! God is GOOD... Platte City United Methodist Church has wonderful kids and adults who were able to beat our goal of $250 for Imagine No Malaria. The kids were able to raise enough money to purchase 50 nets and the adults last Sunday gave enough to purchase 55 nets - that is over $1000. By beating our goal, Pastor Katie and Mr. Spencer got pies in their faces! Way to kids and adults, but way to go GOD!!!
Double our GOAL..."Imagine No Malaria"
The
word is out around Everywhere Fun Fair that if we double our goal for
"Imagine No Malaria", not only with Pastor Katie get a pie in the face,
but so will Mr. Spencer!! WOOHOO!!! It looks like we are almost there,
SO tonight's our last night to get it done!

Acolyte Sign-Up for 9:30 AM Worship
Our
9:30 AM service is a traditional service, which includes having our
children serve in the capacity of Acolyte. Children who would like to
serve in this capacity need to register for the date that works the best
for their family. On the day of their service, children need to arrive
at the church no later than 9:20 AM. Children need to meet Miss
Stephanie near her office to get prepared. Children will bring in the
light at the beginning of the service as well as take out the light at
the end of the service. Serving as an Acolyte is a wonderful way for
our children to serve.

"Imagine No Malaria" Lesson Pictures
Our children have been learning how Christ has taught us to serve others and teach of His love for everyone through our "Imagine No Malaria" lessons. Below are pictures of a recent lesson. As we continue to learn these lessons, we can serve others in Malaria affected communities by purchasing a net for $10. Those in affected areas are taught how to protect themselves with the nets, but also taught about the love of God. You can give now to the church to help our children purchase 25 nets, or you can give during the week of VBS - July 28th - July 31st.

Continuing to Learn - "Imagine No Malaria"
Our
Sunday School and Children's Church focus continues to be on "Imagine No
Malaria". Today our children will learn about how Jesus taught the
Woman at the Well and that she didn't need to thirst anymore because of
Him. We can share this truth with others when we support "Imagine No
Malaria" by purchasing a net for $10. Those in affected areas are
taught how to protect themselves with the nets, but also taught about
the love of God. You can give now to the church to help our children
purchase 25 nets, or you can give during the week of VBS - July 28th -

Words and Thoughts from Annual Conference
Annual Conference has been great so far. I have had the opportunity to learn so many new things and have attended a great workshop. A great thing about Annual Conference has been meeting our new pastor, Pastor Katie and her husband.
As I have been listening and learning, I have also been reading a book that was provided to us. The book is titled Get Their Name: Grow Your Church by Building New Relationships. It is written by Bob Farr, Doug Anderson, and Kay Kotan. While I am only on Chapter 4 at this point, one question that was asked stood out to me. I pray that we can begin to help our children be able to answer this question each week:
"How have you experienced God recently in your life?"
You may be wondering if our children could answer this question. I believe they can and here is how I believe they can. As the adults in their lives, we need to model this for them. We need to share with them at home and at the church building how we have experienced God. So, I have a challenge for our adults and parents, over the next few weeks, let's plan to share how we have experienced God each week with each other especially with our children.
Please pray for our children's ministry team as they share God's love with our children and as we continue our focus on our prayer lives. Over the next couple weeks, we will be doing prayer walks and prayer stations with our children.

Children's Ministry Volunteer Registration Form
We are approaching a busy season for family activities outside of the
regular Church Service schedule, but some that overlap with Sunday
morning schedules. With that said, our regular Sunday School teachers
are in a place of needing some time to focus on their family events. It
is a blessing to have so many who are able to serve our children during
the 9:30 and 11:00 time frame on Sunday mornings.
Moving forward, I am asking that you also pray about the possibility of serving in a new way for our children. They need us, as adults, to help guide them in their personal relationship with Christ. It would be wonderful if you would be able to pick a Sunday, for example always taking the 1st Sunday of the month, to serve as a leader during one of our class times. If you feel led to serve, please complete this survey to identify which Sunday and the class time you would like to serve.
All curriculum items will be provided for you. I will also be available to answer any questions and will check in with you.
Finally, if you are led to serve, you would need to complete the Safe Sanctuary training. This does not take too much time.
Thank you in advance!
