Fishes and Loaves...

Do you remember the story of the fishes and the loaves:

"But Jesus said, 'You feed them.' 'But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish,' they answered. 'Or are you expecting us to go and buy enough food for this whole crowd?' For there were about 5,000 men there. Jesus replied, 'Tell them to sit down in groups of about fifty each.'  So the people all sat down.  Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people.  They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers!" Luke 9:13-17

This morning we had the opportunity to see God's spirit moving in our members as we served together to provide funds for the Northland Childhood Hunger Initiative.  We began our outreach with a goal of $250.  We prayed over this goal and mission.  As we prayed, God took our offering and tripled our offering.  We presented Chris Evans, Executive Director of Feed Northland Children with a check for $500.  After the service, we were approached by two different people who want to begin a mission outreach with other groups and Chris was presented with an additional check from members for an additional $250.  GOD IS GOOD!!!  

Thank you for listening to God's call on your heart to provide funds for this outreach.  The three children who receive these bags throughout the school year will be blessed.  Please pray that these children see Christ and God in these gifts of food and that their hearts are touched.  Please pray that they choose to have a relationship with God and they will serve others as they grow.
